SPARK: Students Practicing Awareness Resilience & Kindness

A social-emotional skills enhancing workshop for middle school youth.

Friday, October 9, 2026
Seattle Public Schools State In-Service Day, no school for students.
9 AM - 3 PM
In-Person at Unity Collective Greenlake Office (7109 Woodlawn Ave NE)

Social emotional learning helps youth develop important skills for managing their emotions, building positive relationships, making responsible decisions, and setting goals for themselves. These skills are essential for success not only in school but also in life. We know middle school is a critical window of time as students transition from childhood to adolescence. With the range of physical, social, and emotional changes, many kids also experience great excitement, uncertainty, and vulnerability.

Unity Collective therapists want to support the social and emotional development of our city’s emerging middle school-aged young leaders, so that they can be empowered with skills to create lasting impact for wellness among their peers and community.

Through the activities and discussions of this program, youth will (1) gain insight into the factors that influence their identity, (2) practice emotional awareness and problem solving skills for challenging social situations, (3) explore the dimensions of the wellness wheel and the intersection of their cultural identity and heritage that relate to them, (4) identify core values that inform their view of leadership and wellness, and (5) participate in movement and self-expression through dance.

All participating youth will have access to unlimited free therapy services with a Unity Collective graduate student intern therapist of their choice until June 2027.
