UNITY COLLECTIVE: Healing Hearts, Thriving Together.
Our Vision | To live in a world where mental health and relational wellness are central to thriving communities.
Our Mission | Unity Collective centers the development of BIPOC therapists, engaging deeply with the intersectionality of spirituality, race, and mental health as we provide counseling services, trainings and events for collective healing among our local communities.
FIND HEALING AND HARMONY FOR YOU AND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.
We are a diverse group of clinicians with a unified goal to provide counseling services that bring wholeness and healing through the power of transformative relationships. We explore the intersectionality of our clients’ social identities and tune into the complexities of the intersection of spirituality, race, and mental health. We work with a diverse population of clients and our therapists are committed to providing a safe and secure therapeutic relationship where together, we can work towards your goals.
We honor race, culture, gender identity, sexuality, all abilities, and spirituality in our commitment to providing holistic mental, emotional and relational care. We seek to provide therapy services that embody cultural humility, are strengths-based, LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed, and collaborative. While many of our counselors have a Christian faith background, our clients come from a variety of religious and spiritual backgrounds. Our therapeutic approaches vary depending on our educational background, clinical orientation, training, personality, and life experiences. As clinicians, we believe in the importance of continued education, training, and personal growth to ensure we provide a safe space for all.
We believe there is rich cultural, spiritual, and experiential wisdom within individuals, couples, families and communities and seek to promote a sense of empowerment for our clients. We see each person as possessing agency, deep wisdom, and inner resources for healing. We work to provide tools to help clients reconnect, restore, rebuild and develop further capacities for growth, healing and harmony within themselves and their relationships. We value the time, investment and labor of our clients and our team, believing in the power of mutuality and that wellness is collaborative.
We see individuals, couples, families, and youth.
We currently have offices in Greenlake and Northgate, and we offer both Telehealth and in-person appointments.
OUR VALUES
Reducing barriers to quality mental health supports. We believe everyone deserves access to mental health counseling and therapy services that are with providers who are skilled, compassionate, motivated, and relational in their approach with clients.
De-stigmatizing mental health. We understand there are many ways that mental health challenges or differences have been portrayed negatively in various cultural contexts and throughout history. Misinformation and shaming language exists, along with a lack of knowledge and understanding of how to approach various mental health challenges. We believe it is an essential part of our role as mental health providers to advocate for mental health awareness and to practice de-stigmatizing mental health topics in our professional work and personal lives.
Racial equity in the mental health field. We recognize there are various barriers for BIPOC individuals to pursue a career in the mental health field such as (1) financial barriers to gradate education, (2) cultural barriers where there is a lack of awareness or acceptance about mental health concepts & mental health counseling, (3) lack of racial representation within the academic institutions and teachings, and (4) the disproportionately low numbers of BIPOC therapists, especially among those who work in private practice. We value breaking down these barriers.
Mental health provider sustainability. We want mental health providers to be sustained in their work and not get burnt out. We value creating a work environment that allows our providers (1) flexibility to balance their workload with personal priorities, (2) collaboration and connection in our work relationships, and (3) empowerment to pursue expertise and specialty in their interest areas.
Consciousness of intersectionality between spirituality, race, and mental health. We view our clients through a holistic lens and are mindful of the specific contexts that emerge with the overlap of spiritual context, racial identity, and mental health for many people and communities. We understand that the way a person moves about the world is shaped by many aspects of identity, and the intersection of these three areas are of special interest to us because of each of our unique personal backgrounds.
In addition to providing standard-rate counseling and therapy services, Unity Collective:
1. OFFERS sliding scale rates that allow young people, couples, families, and individual adults of underrepresented and underprivileged backgrounds to access our services.
2. COLLABORATES with our community partners to increase access to mental health and relationship wellness services for their staff and the communities they serve.
3. PROVIDES low or no-cost community events such as healing circles, support groups, learning workshops, and more.
4. EDUCATES through continuing education and clinical training for counselors and therapists who are interested in sharpening their lens of intersectionality, particular in regards to spirituality, race, and mental health topics.
