FRANK ZHOU (He/Him)

SOCIAL WORK INTERN

Frank was born and raised in Silicon Valley of the Bay Area, California. While initially encouraged to become a software engineer like most of his peers, Frank decided that a corporate job was not a good fit for him. Witnessing the detrimental effects of high pressure, stress, and neglect on himself and classmates around him, he instead turned towards his passion for mental health and acquired a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. Now, Frank is continuing his education as a graduate student at the UW pursuing his Masters in Social Work.

Throughout his life, identity has been core to Frank’s understanding of growth and mental wellness. From cultural experiences as the son of Chinese immigrant parents, to social norms around how boys should be, to the neglect of neurodivergent needs, Frank has spent much of his time reflecting on the kaleidoscope of identity and how its conflicts with societal norms can make navigating life an ongoing struggle. In his adult life, Frank continues to explore his own identity through being a street/hip hop dancer. As a Chinese American guest in a Black culture, he has also grown to deeply value cultural sensitivity, community, and acknowledgement of history and how it shapes us.

Drawing on these life experiences, Frank is particularly excited to work with people of color, men’s mental health, and people struggling with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. To Frank, therapy is about healing, growth, understanding the self, and empowerment; and his goal is to be there to support and help you find your way through it all.

In his personal life, Frank enjoys anime, playing video games, geeking out, exploring creativity, and dancing.
